Interest/Attitude Survey

Who: Interest inventories and attitude surveys can be used on children or adults of all ages.

 

What: Interest inventories and attitude surveys are tools used to help determine student interests or how they feel about a specific task or idea.

 

When: It can be conducted when needed, but preferably at the beginning of the year or when working with a new student.

 

Why: They can be used to determine a child's preferences and interests. This provides insight into the personal life of the student.

 

How: The teacher will develop a set of questions that help determine student interests an/or attitudes. The questions can be read and recorded by assessor or written by the student. For students who are younger, pictures may be used. The information can be used to develop rapport with the student and to guide the teacher in selecting materials for teaching purposes.
